And in other news...
On Friday there was an incident while I was going about my business.  Long story short I felt my privacy and Canadian Criminal Code rights were violated when one too many buttons were pushed.

Today I spoke to a specialist referred to me by our family lawyer.  The conversation was very interesting and his consultation confirmed that I was completely in the right in how I conducted myself, the questions I asked the person(s) involved and my recording of the incident with a quick press of a button on my phone.

I hate not being able to post details, but here's a news story that carries some interest to me right now:

Now the next question - what next?  When I can I'll update, whether it's mitigation, playing "Meet the Press", pursuing a Statement of Claim, or even having a charge sworn before a JP.

If I go to the doctor/dentist they demand my driver's license number and refuse to treat me if I don't "fill out the paperwork properly."

Best of luck.

Thanks, gonna need some luck on my side ;)

As it is with privacy laws and health care, the only identification those people are entitled to is my OHIP card. On the flip side I know of many places that refuse to accept that government health care card as identification. It's weird, I know - but the situation I was thrust into was beyond surreal, even after I tried my best to defuse/de-escalate their unreasonable acts.

At the bank where I work we can't accept a health card from Ontario (and a few other provinces) as a form of ID -- we can't even input them into the system. It sucks for people who don't drive! Usually they don't carry their passport or SIN card, naturally, so they generally don't have "any" government ID.

Sounds like quite the vicious circle :(
