So, about that free food thing at Mandarin on Canada Day ...
Some may recall an earlier post about the free food offer at Mandarin Buffet on Canada Day.

I found myself in Cambridge and Highway 8 was unbelievably backed up (more than usual), that was my cue to pull out the Jazz178 and shoot some video while eventually driving by.

Yes, people were lined up around the building and all along the sidewalks for free food. Yes it was great for the company to do this and I\ve enjoyed myself there a couple times before - but waiting all that time isn't worth it for me even if it is free ;)

The crowds become visible around the 1:45 mark.

My time - no, my LIFE is worth more than waiting on a sidewalk all day just to get a free plate (or even 6 free plates) of fried rice and Dai Dop Wooy.

yup, a nice gesture by the company but if I've never lined up that early for a movie premiere chances are you wouldn't find me in that line-up either ;)

I watched this with hubby who, after wanting to know if you were driving dangerously while filming (I said no, I hope I wasn't lying), said "OMG! That's insane! They're going to save what, $15 a person? Is that worth over an hour of your life just to wait for?"

To which I am adding... what he said. *grin*

I'm always safe while driving, the camera was off centre a few times simply because my eyes were forward on traffic and I adjust when others would do same to adjust radio. I have both a mounting bracket on the dash as well as a hat to attach the camera onto if the occasion requires. ;)

We had considered going there for a quick bite before heading to Guelph for computer stuff, but it was out of our way.

The Yummy Wok House, however, was open and ON our way, which worked out nicely. :)

That's insane! I feel sorry for the poor staff, they must have been run ragged. Hopefully the free food meant good tips.
And no, I wouldn't line up that long for a free meal. A free car, perhaps. But not a meal.
